Fun at HOOT

The year 2015 marks my very first visit to HOOT -- the Heart of Ohio Tole convention!!  My fellow decorative painters have been telling me - with great excitement in their voices - of this convention for years..... and Finally I got to see it for myself. 

I was very impressed with downtown Columbus, and the convention center.   The streets were clean and pretty - and the convention was very well organized.






We were just a short walk across the street - and each morning and afternoon the traffic stopped for us to cross.   We could hear church bells from our room in the evening.  Coming upon familiar faces, and old friends throughout the day was such fun.   Getting to see their artwork from the day's classes was a real treat!

Not sure why Arnold is in the convention courtyard -- but there he is!













I loved our trip to the German Village --- great restaurant - fun dinner group -- and the perfect beer :)

But the best part of all was spending time with some of my favorite people -- Ros, and Beth 

Until next year........

 because now that I've been once -- I cant stay home again :)

Feels Like Home

When I pull up to the Oceanfront Inn and see this fellow - then I know I am 'home' for the week.   Because spending the week with special ladies who share a love of painting, and share their talents, really does feel like a family at 'home' ---
only better because we are At The Beach !!!  :)

Sooner or later we  have to get down to work, and look what lovely 'work' it is too!  

 I get to spend time with my Forever Friend - Becky!   I love having her in class with us.

 

Old friends, and new friends --- together we make one very special group!

We get lots of special attention from Beth  - she guides us through each project with patience  - and a little fun along the way.

Up close demonstration - shows us just exactly what we are supposed to do and how to do it --- and then we try our hand, and sometimes surprise ourselves at how well it all turns out :)













Everybody loves a gift - so we make sure to have at least one every day --- if your lucky number comes up, you get to be 'princess' for the day - and a little surprise in your pretty bag too..

All too soon the week comes to an end, and we have to say goodbye to our friends -- but not before reserving a space for the next year :)   and having a group photo to remember this year.

Warms my Heart

Even in February, it warms my heart to spend a week with Ros Stallcup and the wonderful ladies who come to paint with us At The Beach .....   This warm feeling comes a few weeks in advance when I start putting together our 'theme' for the week.   This one was "Pink"   -- what could be more refreshing in the dead of winter - void of color - than girly-girl pink to brighten our day?   It starts our week off with a smile - just knowing all the fun waiting for us ahead ....

We love tiaras and we love goodie bags!                             

But we get serious about class too. 

 

Always fun to see everyone's projects --- these ladies did a great 

 job!!

Miss Opal turned 99 just before this class!!!   She is a great inspiration to us -- we love having her with us ...
